Having family or friends stay with you for the holidays? This is a surefire way to feed them something tasty, filling and healthy for breakfast and for you to be able to enjoy a relaxing morning meal yourself. All gets done the day before. Just pop the stuff in the oven in the AM, fry up some turkey bacon (my favorite, of course, you can fry up something more porky) and pour the champagne and orange juice ... it's the holidays! Yes, champagne for breakfast. If it were up to me, I'd have champagne every day for breakfast. At least that's the way it used to be in my life before children. The things you give up!

You can adjust the recipe according to your preference in how healthy you would like it to be; whole wheat bread or cut up croissants, you decide. The same goes for the milk, I use 1% milk, but you can use whole milk or even some cream if you feel festive and the need to put on a few extra pounds. I leave the crust on the bread. I love crust. It's the most interesting part of the bread to me. I could never quite understand why recipes usually instruct to 'remove the crust'. It seems rather affected to me. But again, it's your choice. When you come to my house, be prepared to munch on some delicious, chewy crust. After all, what do we have teeth for?
